West Chester University Environmental Council

Purpose of Environmental Council

Working Together

The Environmental Council is an multi-disciplinary advisory group which promotes and provides oversight for environmental issues at West Chester University.

The purpose of the Environmental Council is to further the Green Campus Mission by:

  • advocating for environmentally-friendly facilities initiatives
  • enhancing campus aesthetics in an ecologically-sound manner
  • providing campus-based research and teaching opportunities for students and faculty
  • promoting an environmental emphasis for inclusion in the academic curriculum
  • sharing data
  • identifying funding opportunities for Green Campus projects

West Chester University Green Campus Mission Statement

West Chester University recognizes that the most significant challenge facing humanity is the achievement of a sustainable earth. The successful accomplishment of this goal depends on our ability to understand the earth system, assess the impact of specific actions on our environment and society, and implement sound practices. West Chester University establishes itself as a green campus designed to demonstrate that a community can, through inquiry and education, act in a fashion consistent with the achievement of a sustainable earth.
